The 2016 Diocese of Lincoln Church Schools' Festival has been hailed as a great success.
Over the course of six days during the past two weeks, 3000 children from 120 Church of England Schools across the diocese visited Lincoln Cathedral to participate in this popular annual festival.
As Paul Thompson, Deputy Director of Education, reports, "It was a fantastic event, where the children could actively engage in guided tours, music activities and workshops, such as bee keeping, stone masonry and bell ringing. With the support of many volunteers, the morning activities provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn about the Cathedral, about God and about themselves. During the afternoon, the family of church schools came together each day for a very special and uplifting act of worship. Through the reading of 1 Corinthians 12, the children explored the importance of working together as one large family. Towards the end of each act of worship, senior members of the clergy blessed the school banners and candles before the children processed up the aisle at the end of the service."
The clergy taking part in this year's festival included the Rt Revd Dr Nicholas Chamberlain, the Ven. Justine Allain Chapman, the Ven. Mark Steadman, the Revd Canon Dr Jeffrey Heskins, the Revd Canon Nick Buck, the Revd Philippa White and the Revd Sue Evans.
Thank you to all who organised and contributed to such a memorable, happy and engaging event.
