A Prayer of Remembrance for D-Day

06 June 2014

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings.

Thousands of people have paused to mark the anniversary of D-Day, 6 June, 1944.

This morning, the Queen led tributes to the 'immense and heroic endeavour' of the 150,000 Allied tributes who stormed the beaches of Nazi-occupied France, 70 years ago.

This special Prayer of Remembrance helps us to pay our own tribute to all those who served our country.

Almighty and eternal God,
from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted,
either by death or life:
hear our prayers and thanksgivings
for all whom we remember this day;
fulfil in them the purpose of your love;
and bring us all, with them, to your eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
