Appointment of Discipleship Development Adviser and Rector of Waddington

16 May 2014

Revd Annabel Barber, "I think the future will be a time of great joy for us all"

The Bishop of Lincoln is pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Annabel Barber to the post of Part Time Discipleship Development Adviser and Part Time Rector of the benefice of Waddington.

Reverend Annabel Barber is currently a Licensed General Preacher in the Diocese of Lincoln serving in Yarborough and West Wold Deaneries.

The Archdeacon of Lincoln will preside at the service of induction and installation during August in St Michael's Waddington.

Annabel says "I am really looking forward to returning to parish ministry and helping to lead the church in Waddington. I am excited by the possibilities that the new Discipleship programme offers the Diocese, and I think the future will be a time of great joy for us all."

Annabel describes herself as "a true yellow-belly, born within sight of Lincoln Cathedral". She grew up on a farm near Louth and is "rooted in Lincolnshire". Having studied pharmacology at Leeds University and enjoyed a long career in publishing, she returned to the Diocese of Lincoln for her ordination and to serve as a curate in the north of the Diocese. Annabel spent 5 years as Senior Chaplain at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, and since leaving that post has had a peripatetic role serving in both the Yarborough and West Wold Deaneries.

Passionate about creativity connecting with the spiritual life, Annabel is a member of the Council of the Creative Arts Retreat Movement, and has trained as a Labyrinth facilitator. She and Steve were married in St James' church Louth over 30 years ago, and they have three young adult children. Annabel's dog, Tolly, is her constant companion, and the family also has two cats.
