25 November 2016
As detailed on the cover of the November/December issue of Crosslincs, a second Advent Sleepout Challenge in aid of the Church Urban Fund is to be held at St Nicholas Church, Newport, Lincoln, on Saturday, 3rd December.
The event forms part of a national campaign to raise awareness of the challenges of urban poverty on a local and national level – poverty of resources, education and relationships. It has been reported that £93,450 was raised last year after 75 events took place in churches and communities across the country.
From 10am on the day a life-size stable will again be built outside the church, there will be activities for all ages inside the church in the evening, followed by an opportunity for volunteers to spend the night either outside in the stable or in the church.
A fundraising page has been set up here, but it is also possible for individual pages to be set up and linked to the main page. To be held during the Lincoln Christmas Market, people are very welcome to stop by and offer encouragement and support during the day.
For more information, or to express an interest in helping and taking part, please contact the Revd Cameron Watt on 07887 802 784 or via email. Further details on the Advent Sleepout Challenge, including an introductory film, may be found here
