Grimsby Minster has hosted a special Shoppers’ Carol Service, offering people an opportunity to pause awhile and to gather to hear the Christmas story, to sing carols and to pray for the world, for peace and for loved ones.

Lead by the Revd Canon Andrew Dodd, the service featured musical pieces prepared for the service by Grimsby Minster Choir and the NAViGO Choir, and readings were offered by people from the congregation, people associated with NAViGO, and Lara King from BBC Radio Humberside. The Bishop of Grimsby, The Rt Revd Dr David Court, gave the address, speaking about the gift of Christmas, before later offering a Christmas blessing as the service drew to a close.

BBC Radio Humberside recorded this special event, and the service is set for broadcast at 2pm on Christmas Eve and at 6am on Christmas Day (it will also be available on the BBC iPlayer).

Details of forthcoming Christmas services at Grimsby Minster are available here, and, in the meantime, here are some photos taken at the service...
