A short film has been made available that provides information on The Gift of Years and Anna Chaplaincy to Older People.

Anna Chaplaincy to Older People began in Alton, Hampshire and is said to be spreading to other parts of the UK. The Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) programme, The Gift of Years, has the development of Anna Chaplaincy at its heart, and team leader and Anna Chaplain, the former broadcaster, Debbie Thrower, speaks in the film about the Anna Chaplaincy model, which has been described as a 'timely response to the rapidly ageing population'.

The film may be viewed on the BRF YouTube channel, which may be found here, and a website for The Gift of Years may be accessed here

As well as exploring how we might most helpfully resource churches in their work with older people, as a diocese we are looking very specifically at work with those suffering from dementia. We are very keen to hear of any churches that have particular experience and expertise in this area. Perhaps you have a dedicated pastoral worker for older people or have specific fellowship groups? And maybe you have achieved, or are working towards, becoming recognised as a Dementia Friendly church (see www.dementiafriends.org.uk for more details)?

We would very much like to hear from you and see how we might support each other in this important area of mission and ministry. Please contact Richard Steel, Mission Team Leader, in the first instance. Contact details for Richard are available here
