Helping our parishes with digital media

19 January 2018

People from parishes from around the diocese gathered at Edward King House recently for a digital media training day.

Amaris Cole (Digital Content and Communications Manager for the Church of England) and Tallie Proud (Digital Communications Officer for the Church of England) visited Lincoln to lead the day, helping attendees to establish parish or benefice-based social media accounts and to explore ways in which they might share local information with an online audience.

Discussion centred on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, the recent relaunch of A Church Near You, materials provided by the Church of England for Advent and Christmas and also Lent and Easter, plus helpful tips with regard to photography and details of further resources.

As can be seen by a recent blog post (please see here), the Church of England’s digital communications team has so far trained more than 200 parishes in social media and writing for websites, and they hope to have trained 500 by July.

It is anticipated that a further training day will be offered in the diocese later this year.
