Is your 'A Church Near You' page up to date?

04 August 2017

Work is currently underway to redesign the A Church Near You (ACNY) website. This website lists every church in the Church of England, with accurate maps, contact information, service times and much more. The team behind the website has recently thanked existing editors of local parish information, and also shared some exciting news...

Work is underway to redesign ACNY, and we’re thrilled to be launching in November.

Before then, though, we need some help. To ensure our records are up to date, we are asking all those who have not logged into their account in the last year to do so in the coming weeks. Now is a good time to check your churchs details and service times are accurate.

If you are no longer a church editor, please ask your successor:

1. To go to the church page and click the update this church link on the right
2. Register for an account
3. Click the request transfer button.

ACNY wouldn’t work without your dedication to updating your church’s profile, and we’re delighted to let you know just how much this pays off. Last year, the site received more than 12 million page views – that’s really exciting, as it means more people than ever are looking for churches in their local area – and theyre finding you. Churches like St Martin’s, Ruislip, which received 15,000 hits last year, or All Saints, Reading, with nearly 8,000 hits. That’s thousands of people reading about your service times, facilities and contact information.

The aims for the redesign are simple: to make it easier for you to update, and easier for users to find the church they’re looking for – along with all the activities and services offered. In the Autumn, it will also be possible for churches to have up to five editors. This will mean its even easier for churches to stay up to date.

If you’re already looking ahead to Christmas, then we’ve got some good news for you. Any services you add before October will be transferred to the new site, so don’t wait – add yours today.

Thank you again for all your dedication and support. If you do have any questions or concerns, please contact Amaris Cole, who is leading the redesign project, via email.
