Melvyn Prior will be on air between 9am and 12 noon, and as part of the programme he will be talking about this year’s ‘Knitivity’. Following on from the huge success of last year’s event, which saw listeners produce thousands of knitted stars dedicated to family members and friends, this year people have been producing knitted baubles.
The baubles will be on display on Sunday evening at a ticketed carol service in the Stump. The Bishop of Lincoln is to give the address at this service, which is to be recorded for a later broadcast at 10am on Christmas Day.
On Friday (9th December) the Bishop of Grimsby is to preach at a Shoppers’ Carol Service to be held in Grimsby Minster (12 noon). All are welcome to take a break from their shopping to pop in for a coffee and to sing some well-known carols and think about Jesus’ birth. This year the service will be supported by the NAViGO choir and is to be recorded by BBC Radio Humberside for broadcast on Christmas Eve (2pm) and Christmas Day (6am).
The Bishop of Grimsby and Canon Andrew Dodd have been looking ahead to the service with BBC Radio Humberside’s Steve Redgrave. To listen to the interview, please follow this link (scroll along to 1 hour and 54 minutes).
The St Cecilia Singers are to bring their Christmas concert to St Andrew’s Church in Epworth on Monday, 19th December (7.30pm). This concert is to be recorded for broadcast on both BBC Radio Humberside and BBC Radio Lincolnshire on Christmas Eve (between 5pm and 6pm). Admission to the concert is £6 (there is no charge for children). More information on St Andrew’s Church is available here
