Pupils find nativity characters at school

19 December 2017

As the end of term in our schools draws near, we were pleased to receive the following article from the Christian Union at William Farr Church of England Comprehensive School in Welton. Here they offer their reflections on a recent Christmas-themed event, complete with puns...

Cane you believe it – 600 candy canes (in mint condition!) were distributed to William Farr pupils as part of a recent Christian Union outreach project. On Thursday, 14th December, In the Bleak Midwinter, there wasn’t a bah humbug in sight as wise students from the east [of Lincoln (ish)] journeyed around the school. Sheepishly they flocked towards a shepherd, said halo to an angel from the Realms of Glory and then had only one myrrh nativity character to find; the Wise Man, who was loudly proclaiming ‘Camel Ye Faithful’!

Once the students had found all the nativity characters, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas as they were able to exchange a stamped card for a candy cane (pictured below)Wrapped around the present was an invitation to the Christian Unions Christmas party and the Bible verse from John 3.16. Overall, a crackers time was had by all and we hope that we were able to bring a little Joy to the World (or at least to William Farr)!

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and ladies!
