03 June 2017
As mentioned in the diocesan e-bulletin, The Great Get Together is a weekend of community events with the aim of bringing the country together over the weekend of 16th–18th June 2017.
An initiative of the Jo Cox Foundation that is set to be held around the first anniversary of Jo Cox’s death, The Great Get Together is described as ‘a big weekend of street parties and other neighbourhood events to celebrate all we hold in common’, with over 100,000 events set to be held across the country. Faith communities are getting involved, with events planned for churches and invitations extended to people of all faiths from their local communities.
As part of The Great Get Together, Grimsby Minster is planning a bring-a-picnic-lunch at St James’ Square on Sunday, 18th June. To be held outside Grimsby Minster at 12noon, this will follow on from an all-age service for Fathers’ Day, and all are most welcome to attend the service and the lunch. For more details please see the Grimsby Minster website.
If you have an event planned for your parish, please let the Revd Adrian Smith, Communications Officer, know so that he may help share details of your event.
