The Bishop of Lincoln is pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Michelle Godbold to the post of Adviser in Women’s Ministry for the Diocese of Lincoln.
Michelle, who is Rector of the Benefice of the Graffoe Group, will serve in this additional role as part of the diocesan ministry team, and she is delighted to have been offered this opportunity. “I am really pleased and humbled to have been appointed to this post,” she has said. “I am now looking forward to working with both ordained and licensed women so as to give us a voice within this diocese, and also within the ongoing conversations taking place within the Church of England. Along with the ministry team, I hope to be able to address some of the issues that women in our diocese have faced, and are currently facing, and also to provide the necessary support and opportunities that will help women to flourish in their calling.”
Part of the role will include the monitoring of the experience of women in the diocese in ordained and lay ministry, to act as a source of pastoral care, and to work towards the fullest possible development of the potential of women in ministry. Speaking of Michelle’s appointment, the Bishop of Grantham, who has responsibility for ministry in the diocese, has said, “When I was a parish priest I rejoiced to have colleagues lay and ordained, female and male, as part of the ministry team of the parishes. Michelle’s appointment significantly strengthens the diocese’s support for our women ministers. She will be able to represent the experience of women both within Lincoln diocesan structures and with the national church, and I am certain that she will help us all to make positive progress in using fully our gifts and talents together.”
The appropriate contact details for Michelle will be added to the diocesan website.
