The Rt Revd Christopher Lowson, Bishop of Lincoln, shared in the recent harvest festival and harvest supper held at Coleby. The Revd Michelle Godbold, Rector of the United Benefice of Graffoe, looks back on a happy occasion in the life of the benefice...
All Saints' Church, Coleby, is part of the United Benefice of Graffoe, which lies to the south of Lincoln. The people of the parish were delighted that Bishop Christopher preached at the recent annual harvest festival and then shared in the harvest supper held at the local pub, The Tempest.
The church had been decorated with symbols of the harvest, including bales of hay, farming implements, fruit and vegetables, plus flat caps and wellington boots! The bishop preached on the origins of the harvest festival and its relevance to Christians in the modern world, engaging with young and old as he prompted them to shout out the things in their lives that they were thankful to God for. The donations of produce and the collection were donated to the Nomad Trust and an enjoyable time was had by all.
With grateful thanks to Mr John Steadman for the photographs.
