16 May 2017
As previously published, the former Archbishop of Wales, the Rt Revd Dr Barry Morgan, is to give an open lecture on the work of R. S. Thomas on the evening of Wednesday, 31st May 2017. A free event, with voluntary contributions welcomed, the lecture is to be held in the Hardy Lecture Theatre at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln (LN1 3DY). Doors will open at 7pm, with the lecture to begin at 7.30pm.
On the previous evening (Tuesday, 30th May), the Revd Dr Neil Burgess (pictured above) will celebrate the fortieth anniversary of his ordination as a deacon in 1977. This special occasion will be marked with a celebratory Eucharist to be held in St Faith & St Martin’s Church (Charles Street West, Lincoln) at 7.30pm, and the preacher will be Dr Barry Morgan, who was Neil’s tutor at theological college.
All are most welcome to attend (clergy and readers are invited to robe; alb and white stole for clergy), but if you are unable to attend, please remember Neil and the work of the Ministry Team in your prayers, and please also pray for all those embarking on ordained or licensed ministries later in the year.
