Bishop's Advisory Group on Prayer and Spirituality (BAGPAS)
BAGPAS is a group chaired by the diocesan bishop, which maintains a overview of prayer and spirituality activity in the diocese, holds that activity in prayer and seeks to develop ideas and initiatives across the diocese. To date, the group has overseen the introduction of
· the Prayer Diary,
· a parish course on Spirituality,
· a Companions on the Way network
· Spirituality Taster Days in the Cathedral.
The group is working to expand and strengthen the Companions network so that all those in formation for ministry will be able to access a Companion/Spiritual Director, as will those in our communities who wish to explore the place of Spirituality in their lives, develop their understanding/practice of prayer and possibly be put in touch with a Spiritual Director.
The aim is to embed spirituality within the DNA of the Diocese in all aspects of its life, and to that end Advisers in Prayer and Spirituality have been identified in the north and the south of the Diocese to take this agenda forward.
Taster Days, producing resource materials and promoting Retreats/Quiet Days etc. will continue under the auspices of this group.
