Continuing Ministerial Education (CME)

Training and development in ministry

Initial training for lay or ordained ministers is not the end - all ministers need to be developing their skills, knowledge and spiritual life. Lincoln Diocese provides a programme of events open to all clergy, licensed and accredited lay ministers.

 Regular events include:
- ministry training days
- 24 Hours with a Theologian
- special one off events
- Lincoln Leadership Development Programme (refer to the link below for brochure)

This programme is funded from the central CME budget. For courses organised outside the diocese or for longer term or academic CME projects separate funding is available.

Although at this stage we are not centrally organising retreats for clergy funding is available for clergy for help towards the costs of a retreat.

All clergy are encouraged to take a sabbatical from parish ministry after ten years of service. These are organised in consultation with either your suffragan bishop or with the bishop of Lincoln.
