News and events Events Come and join St Guthlac's first ever Santa stroll Start your Christmas celebrations in style on Sunday 23rd December 2018 and join in the first ever Market Deeping Santa Stroll. It promises to be a fabulous, fun time with lots of carol singing, perfect to get you in the mood for the festive season. The Santa Stroll will leave from St Guthlac's Church at 11.30am and head towards John Eve Park for a loop before strolling along Godsey Lane. From there you will turn right into the High Street, singing especially loudly as you pass The Laurels, the pubs and restaurants. Another right turn will take you onto Church Street and back to St Guthlac's Church. If you are looking to get your daily steps in, there is a revised course that adds a couple more loops of the park and a smaller loop along the Orchard. This should take the walk up to around 5km approximately. Junior Santas are welcome but we ask that any Santa aged eight or under is accompanied by a grown up. Mini Santas (4 and under) are welcome to join in for free, they will receive a medal on finishing but we cannot supply them with a santa suit. Prices include a Santa suit: Adult Santa £12 Child Santa (small) £7 Child Santa (big) £7 Family Santa £32 To book a place please visit active.com or see the church's Facebook page. All monies raised will go towards the Church Organ Restoration Fund and the Market Deeping Mayor's Charity The organ is a very important part of the worship in the church and assisting the congregation in singing! Not only is it used every Sunday for worship but it is used for weddings, funerals, civic and Remembrance services. Many people across the community are very thankful that it was there when they needed music for special services. By careful restoration, it can be available into the future. Donations large and small will be gratefully received and acknowledged as the church works towards reinvigorating this wonderful, heritage instrument for the future.
