A service of thanksgiving was held at St Andrew's Church, West Deeping recently to celebrate Canon David McCormack's 50 years in ministry. Ordained as a priest in 1968 in Coventry, David spent nearly thirty years serving in the Diocese of Birmingham. He retired in 2000 and has permission to officiate in Lincoln and Peterborough.

Over 60 people attended the service with many of David’s friends and family present. Father Aran Beesley, Rector of the Uffington Group of Churches, led the service and Canon Haydn Smart preached the sermon reflecting on when they were both ordained 50 years ago and in it he challenged everyone to think about their calling.

The hymns were a family affair as David chose his favourites including 'I the Lord of Sea and Sky' and 'Be still for the presence of the Lord'. The music for singing was led by his son Andy, grand-daughter Katie and worshipper Jules Morgan-Walters.
