Boston Stump (St Botolph’s) is running a lunch club for children over the course of the summer. It will provide both packed lunches on four days of the week and a hot meal will be served on a Wednesday.  The service will be available from Monday 29th July to Friday 30th August.

This is aimed at families with children who struggle to meet the demand to give extra meals during the summer holidays.

Revd Aly Buxton from St Botolph’s said: “We help to run the Boston and Sutterton food bank and we have seen an increase in the numbers of people who need help to feed children during the summer holidays so we decided we had to do something to help. We managed to secure some funding from the Michael Cornish Charitable Trust and our own church community and volunteers were, yet again, very generous in supporting our plans.

“Summer holidays put a lot of pressure on families who are already feeling the pinch as there are many more meals to provide for. We don’t want any child to go hungry so we have rallied together and we are going to provide free lunches to those that need it.  There is no means testing and any child that wants one can have it. We have advertised the service widely in the local area so everyone knows that we are here to help.”

The packed lunches will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 1.00pm from The Stump and on Wednesdays there will be a hot meal served from 12-1.30pm at Blenkin Memorial Hall (opposite St Botolph’s).
