Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) takes place each year on 27th January and marks the day of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. The day also remembers the millions of other people killed in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

On Tuesday 15th September there will be a live launch of resources for next year with details of ways for individuals and organisations to get involved. Olivia Marks-Woldman, Chief Executive of Holocaust Memorial Day Trust (HMDT), will explore the importance of marking the day. Also speaking will be Martin Stern MBE, survivor of the Holocaust, who will discuss the theme for HMD 2021, Be the light in the darkness.

Also joining the launch will be Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, who will reflect on Greater Manchester's HMD commemoration and the importance of community in dark times.

The Resources Launch will take place on Tuesday 15th September between 4-5.30pm.
