We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie Johnson as our new Wellbeing and Continuing Ministerial Development Officer, who joins us from the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham.

This is a new post within the Diocese of Lincoln and Jackie’s role will have two main foci. One is to create and support a culture of wellbeing for all God’s people within Lincolnshire, and the other is to ensure that the diocese’s ministry is shaped with respect to local needs as well as national developments within the field of Continuing Ministerial Development.

There will be a large focus on ensuring that the mental and emotional wellbeing of all God’s people in the diocese are cared for, and her work will also encompass, among other elements, education, training and support for clergy and laity; the development of systems for mentoring, supervision and conflict transformation.

Jackie hails from Shipley in West Yorkshire and is proud of her Yorkshire roots. Before ordination Jackie worked as an NHS Ward Administrator in the psychiatric and then midwifery departments. She trained in Cuddesdon in Oxfordshire and was then Assistant Priest in the Torpoint, Anthony and Sheviock Cluster in Truro Diocese, which gave her experience of urban, coastal, and rural ministry. From here she moved to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham as Priest in Charge of Harworth with Bircotes, Styrrup and Hesley, a former mining community.

In 2012 she became a Ministry Development Adviser within the Southwell and Nottingham diocese with oversight of processes relating to the wellbeing of clergy and other church leaders, the MDR and sabbatical systems, CMD provision including leadership development, and the Spiritual Direction network.

Jackie writes: “I am delighted to be joining the team in Lincoln and look forward to getting to know people across the diocese. I am committed to working for the wellbeing and personal and vocational development of all God’s people, and hope to encourage a greater understanding of and commitment to the commandment to ‘love our neighbour as ourselves’.

“Away from work my home life is focussed on my son and his family and I am totally smitten with my two grandchildren. Feel free to tell me I don’t look old enough! I relax by visiting Hemswell and Horncastle in the hope of finding that Monet or Picasso a trader has missed, and am a lifelong supporter of Liverpool Football Club – currently a rather less relaxing pastime as we continue to play for Premiership glory!”

Jackie will join us from Monday, 3rd June, 2019.
