The people of St Andrew’s Parish Church in Kirton in Lindsey are preparing to launch a ‘Poppy Cascade’ of approximately 5000 knitted poppies from the church tower in October. The cascade will provide a focal point for the community to pray for peace and will also serve as a commemoration of the ending of the First World War.

To be launched on Wednesday, 17th October 2018, there will be a short service of dedication at 12.30pm, and the poppies will be put in position by members of the Royal Artillery supported by the churchwardens.

Approximately 4000 poppies have been knitted so far by the people of Kirton in Lindsey, and the picture below shows the Revd Kath Darby putting the first poppy into position.
