The Revd John Leach, diocesan Growing Disciples Officer, writes...

If you’re going to be celebrating Bible Sunday on the Last Sunday after Trinity (27th October), take a look at these free resources from the Bible Society.

The 2019 pack consists of the following resources.

  • A sermon on Psalm 119.129–136. This comes in two forms, as a full script that can be read, for example by authorised lay ministers who regularly use resources from The Homilies Project (see here), and as a set of notes that experienced preachers can adapt to make their own
  • Intercessions for use in services
  • Activities for junior church groups and children
  • A poster to promote your event (This too comes in two ways, one of which can easily be overprinted with your own details)
  • A donation form for those wishing to support Bible mission across the globe.

Everything is free and downloadable from the Bible Society website – see here

And while you’re there, take a look at their Bible Course – see here.

This is an eight-session course to help people obtain an overview of the world’s best-seller. A couple of parishes in our diocese have run it, and would highly recommend it. Materials aren’t free, but they may be borrowed from the Resource Room at Edward King House.
