News and events Stories News from the Evangelism Network There will be three gatherings this spring, to which all are welcome, even if you are not currently a member of the network. Saturday, 15th Feb 2020 at the All Saints Centre, Belton DE9 1PE Mike Starkey, who works for Manchester Diocese, will be with us to introduce us to Faith Pictures, a resource which he developed whilst working for the Church Army. Faith Pictures is a course to help us share our faith using, as the name suggests, pictures more than words. Its three values are honesty, humour and applicability to the whole church. You can watch Mike introducing the course here. Mike is a great and entertaining speaker, and it’s a real privilege to have him spending the morning with us. Saturday, 4th April 2020 at St Luke’s Birchwood, Lincoln LN6 0YR John Leach, Growing Disciples Officer for our diocese, will be leading a session on ‘Motivational Gifts’, one of the best kept secrets of the New Testament. Discovering what motivational gifts are, and what ours are, can set us free from unrealistic expectations and help us to live out our Christian discipleship, and do our evangelism, in ways that are right, comfortable and enjoyable for us. If you feel ‘I could never preach in a football stadium’ or ‘I hate cold-call door-knocking!’, come along and find how you might be involved in evangelism your way, not somebody else’s. Saturday, 23rd May 2020 at Holy Trinity, Boston PE21 9NS We have the privilege of welcoming Stephen Hance, who is the new Church of England National Officer for Evangelism and Witness. Stephen has been in post for a few months, and has already met with the diocesan Mission Team to talk about his exciting vision for motivating Anglicans for mission and evangelism. Formerly the Dean of Derby, Stephen brings a wide experience and great gravitas to his role. He is an inspiring speaker and has wide appeal across the different parts of the Church of England. All three sessions run from 10am (coffee from 9.30am) until 1pm, when we will share lunch together (provided). For catering purposes you will need to book for the events, letting us know of any dietary requirements, by sending an e-mail or by calling 01522 50 40 49.
