Members of parochial church councils (PCCs) in the diocese are being invited to two launch events for the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) in our diocese.

The PGS was developed by and for the Church of England in 2009 and is now used by 24 dioceses. The growing popularity of the scheme is due to the significant increases in giving that it has helped parishes to achieve, plus its administrative tools for parish officers, including the administration of Gift Aid, which is claimed monthly.

The PGS now administers donations totalling over £2.8 million (including Gift Aid) annually, from more than 30,000 donors and for over 1700 parishes. All of this is at no cost to the parish.

Two special launch events in the diocese will include more details on the scheme from Helen Richardson (Chief Executive, PGS) and parishes that have been ‘road-testing’ the PGS in our diocese, plus presentations on how to increase giving in your parish. There will also be input from the bishop’s senior staff, as well as the Diocesan Secretary and the diocesan Director of Finance.

Each parish is welcome to bring up to four or five members of its PCC to one of these events. Numbers are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

A buffet meal will be provided free of charge.
