The Spalding event has had to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Those people who expressed an interest in attending the Spalding event are most welcome to attend the day in Louth, and their interest in the workshops will be transferred. Those wishing to attend the Louth event in place of the cancelled Spalding event don’t need to do anything further at this stage.

Two one-day events for people involved in rural ministry in our diocese are to be held later this year.

The first event will be held at the Trinity Centre in Louth on Tuesday, 22nd May 2018, with the second event to be held at St John the Baptist Church in Spalding on Wednesday, 13th June 2018.

The days are intended primarily for people in ministry (clergy, readers and authorised lay ministers), but they are also open to church officers.

A keynote address will be offered at each event by Dr Jill Hopkinson, National Rural Officer for the Church of England, and there will be workshops during the day on a range of topics relating to rural ministry.

Workshops will include:

  • building and supporting local teams in rural parishes
  • caring for people with dementia in rural communities
  • Germinate: what it is and how it can help rural churches
  • helping rural mission flourish
  • Open for All: Church Buildings for Tourists, Pilgrims and Neighbours
  • planning for mission in the rural church
  • reflections on first experiences of rural ministry [Spalding only]
  • how to run a parish giving review.

Stalls will include:

  • Christians Against Poverty
  • Church Pastoral Aid Society
  • Dementia-friendly Church
  • Germinate: Arthur Rank Centre
  • Lincolnshire Bat Group
  • Social Issues in South Lincolnshire (Spalding only)
  • Diocesan Advisory Committee
  • Ministry Team
  • Mission Team
  • Stewardship.

A bookstall will be provided by Unicorn Tree Books, Lincoln.

There is no charge for either event, and attendees are invited to bring a packed lunch with them (hot drinks will be provided).
