News and events Stories Sharing in prayer for the community at High Toynton The Revd Canon Charles Patrick, Rector of the Horncastle Group, has today been speaking to the media following the collapse of the tower at the church of St John the Baptist, High Toynton. The tower collapsed during the day on Sunday, 19th January 2020, and in speaking about the situation, Charles has said: “We’re deeply saddened and deeply shocked, and it’s devastating for the local population here. Yesterday the fire service and the police couldn’t have been more helpful. From here on in, we do the appreciate the prayers and support of the wider diocese. There is a JustGiving campaign and people have already been extremely generous. It will take a considerable effort and energy to get the church back to a place where we can use it for worship and for all the other events that the local people here do use it for.” As is documented in the village, High Toynton is one of 14 known Doubly Thankful villages in the UK, in that all men returned home from the First and Second World Wars, and the church serves the village in the hosting of church services and other events through the year. Please join us in praying for Charles and all associated with the church and local community as they respond to this situation.
