From Cadney to the Cathedral: Churchwarden takes on fundraising walk

70 Miles Along the Viking Way

Debbie Clark, the Churchwarden of Cadney Church, is currently taking on a walking challenge to raise money for Cadney Church. All Saints Church, Cadney is a Grade 1 listed, rural church near Brigg on the ‘at risk’ register.

From Sunday 26 July to Saturday 1 August, Debbie (with friends) will is taking on a different section of the Viking Way each day until she reaches Lincoln Cathedral. She set off from All Saints Church, Cadney and is walking from Cadney, through Howsham to join the Viking Way at Searby, then continue to Caistor.

Debbie started the walk from the beautiful Cadney Church

Debbie will then walk a section of the route each day until she reaches Lincoln Cathedral on Saturday morning. She plans to visit all the churches on the way and is looking forward to enjoying all the Lincolnshire villages and countryside along the Viking Way which is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary.

It is definitely not the quick route – it will be over 70 miles. Debbie is writing a report at the end of each day’s walking. There is a ‘Cadney to the Cathedral’ Facebook page, where fundraising updates, news, photos and each day’s walking report will appear.

Debbie said:

“We desperately need to raise more funds to help sort out the church roof and help cover running costs.”

If would like to sponsor Debbie you can donate here. Cash is welcome too, which can be given at a Cadney Coffee morning on a Monday or when you see Debbie out walking. Debbie will be wearing a Cadney to the Cathedral t shirt while doing the walk…give her a wave if you see her.
