New Bishop of Grimsby announced
The Diocese of Lincoln is pleased to confirm that 10 Downing Street has today named The Venerable Jean Burgess as the next Bishop of Grimsby.
Read the storyOver these last few months, Nine members of the congregation at St. Matthews have asked for Confirmation. The Confirmation on 5th November was a wonderful occasion when Bishop David came to officiate at the service.
The congregation has grown over this last year and includes a great ethnic mix. For some the decision to be a confirmed Christian and a member of the Church of England had a great cost to it and our friends from Iran know how difficult and dangerous it is to become a Christian in Iran.
It has been good to welcome our Iranian friends who have become so much part of the church. It was a great joy for all nine of our candidates to be Confirmed by Bishop David on Sunday the 5th of November. One of the joys for me as the Rector is that I didn’t have to twist any arms to be confirmed as all of them came and asked me individually. They are all a part of our growing Christian family at St. Matthews. It was a really good day.
