New Bishop of Grimsby announced
The Diocese of Lincoln is pleased to confirm that 10 Downing Street has today named The Venerable Jean Burgess as the next Bishop of Grimsby.
Read the storyOn the Tuesday of Holy Week (Tuesday 26 March 2024), the Bishop of Lincoln and the Suffragan Bishops of Grimsby and Grantham gathered with ministers from across our Diocese for the Chrism Eucharist at Lincoln Cathedral.

This occasion, taking place ahead of the last three days leading up to Easter, is a time to remember the ministry that the Bishops, clergy and ministers share to serve our communities.
They reaffirmed the common calling of their baptism and the unique calling to use their gifts in various roles within the Church.

During the service, the bishop’s blessed the three oils for baptism, confirmation and healing.

“I take great heart from my visits to incumbent clergy in their homes, from my group meetings with self-supporting ordained ministers and a range of lay ministers. I thank God for all the evidence of creative and sacrificial service and evangelism, often in challenging circumstances or on a challenging scale.”
The Rt Rev’d Stephen Conway, Bishop of Lincoln
