The North-East Lincs Chaplain, the Revd Mary Vickers, is looking for accredited ministers, both lay and ordained, from various denominations and faiths, to join a team of emergency pastoral/faith responders at Humberside Airport.
Are you called to serve in times of crisis? Do you have a heart for providing spiritual and emotional support to those in need?
As part of the team, you will be providing crucial pastoral care during emergencies at the airport.
Key parts of the role:
- Training – All responders must attend training sessions offered by the Lincolnshire or Humber Resilience Forum. This includes familiarisation training at the airport to understand the layout and meet key personnel.
- Voluntary Service – This is a voluntary role. However, we reimburse car parking expenses for familiarisation visits, exercises, and call-outs. Refreshments are provided during your time at the airport.
- Emergency Response – You will be part of a ‘telephone tree’ system, with the coordinator being the first point of contact. In their absence, the airport will contact the next available responder. Your role will involve supporting distressed individuals, whether it’s a single person during a medical incident or multiple people during a large-scale event.
- Annual Exercises – Participate in annual emergency exercises, with a more comprehensive exercise every 2-3 years as required by the Civil Aviation Authority.
What you’ll need:
It’s important that you are accredited according to your faith tradition’s guidelines, possess a driving licence or passport for identity and security purposes, and have a willingness to share your contact details securely with the coordinator and Humberside Airport.
