Marking Racial Justice Sunday 2026
Each year, our diocese marks Racial Justice Sunday. This is an important day to recognise our common humanity and the love and compassion that we share between us as diverse children of God.
Read the storyChurches across the Diocese have been having services for Plough Sunday (Sunday 5 January), which marks the beginning of the agricultural year.
One particular Plough Sunday service that took place was at Aslackby Church. The Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Revd Stephen Conway, was in attendance, which added a special significance to the occasion.

Plough Sunday is a time when the community comes together to bless the plough and pray for a fruitful farming season.
The service saw over 100 villagers and visitors alike brave the winter weather to enjoy the ceremony.
There was singing and dancing thanks to the Greenwood Quire and the Wormwood Band.
During the service, the plough was decorated with ribbons and greenery. This act of ‘dressing the plough’ is a visual reminder of the connection between the church and the agricultural community.

The service was a heartwarming celebration of faith, community, and the agricultural heritage that sustains the village and all of Greater Lincolnshire. A big well done goes to the Aslackby village community who made it all happen.
We pray for a prosperous year ahead for agriculture across Lincolnshire and beyond.
