“God… reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation”
Saint Paul wrote this 2,000 years ago to some of the very first Christians. It’s a good summary of what Christian faith is all about. And Christian faith is the ‘core business’ of the Diocese of Lincoln.
Christian mission is God’s mission. “God has reconciled us to himself through Christ” says Saint Paul. Reconciliation means fixing broken relationships. That is what God does. God fixes our relationships with God, with each other, and with nature.
God invites us to join in with this mission. “God has given us the ministry of reconciliation”. Christian ministry is a job for every Christian. We work together as a Diocese, in parishes, benefices, Local Mission Partnerships, and Deanery Partnerships. We can’t do this without God’s help.
Our relationship with God is at the heart of what we do. We call this relationship “discipleship”. Following Jesus, like his first disciples, means learning from him, sharing in his work, and obeying his command.
“Love one another as I have loved you.”
